Sivagami hails from Madras, India and has learned Bharatanatyam from renowned dance gurus, Kalaimamani Sri.S.K.Kameswaran and Natya Thilakam Saroja Kameswaran, from 5 years of age She is an exponent of the Vazhuvoor style of dancing. Over the years she has returned to India several times to continue to learn from her gurus. Sivagami is herself a reputed Bharatanatyam dancer well known for her “abhinaya” and maturity in bringing dance characters to life Sivagami has performed before such august audiences as His Royal Highness Haile Selasie of Ethiopia. She has given several dance performances in India and has played lead roles in dance ballets.

She has performed for the famous Pan Asian Festival in Cleveland, the Tamil Nadu Foundation of USA in Pittsburg, the Black American Women’s Association, Cleveland Chapter, the United Nations World Program for Peace, the Rotary Club of Portland and the Children’s World Program produced by NBC. She has given lecture /demonstration programs in schools and Universities in Portland. She has worked with several multicultural groups and artists.

She has performed in the Art Explosion 2004 – A showcase of Asian Pacific American performing arts. She has given several TV performances in India, Ethiopia and the USA. . She is a recognized “master” artist in the Oregon Folk Life Program. Most recently she was on the Executive Board of Directors of the Beaverton Arts Commission and was recognized for her contribution to art in the community. She has participated in after school programs sponsored by the Oregon Historical society.
